Chilean Quake Likely Shifted Earth’s Axis, NASA Scientist Says - BusinessWeek

Holy Moley! This article, seen via gizmodo, says that the Chilean earthquake shifted the earths axis by 3” which shortens our days by 1.26us (microseconds).

Oh, also the island of Santa Maria was raised 2 meters after the quake, no big deal.  Shnickies!

This is a MIND BLOWING statistic.  Scary!  I am actually a little excited to see what Bit.ly will do with all of this valuable information!

Much of the reasoning behind the disappearing oil has to do with the natural resilience of the Gulf, which is teeming with microbes that eat oil. On top of that is the natural tendency of oil in seawater to evaporate and dissolve to half its volume in about a week — something even critics acknowledge.

Ummm, Yeah… 69% of the oil is no longer in the Gulf of Mexico.  That means only 31% is left. Yeah, I believe that.
