I have had the HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon for several months and one feature that I have used only once on the device is the video recorder. The reason: it SUCKS! The video quality was (just) ok, it was was audio that was the worst, most garbled, audio I have ever heard on a video recording device! No exaggeration, no joke. Hands down the worst!
A month or so ago I installed the CyanogenMod ROM (7.1.1) and the video recording was no better, so I was sure it was the fact that there is only one mic on the device (or something like that) and wrote it off as a hardware thing.
Weeeeelllll, for some reason this weekend I decided to go with an unofficial MIUI port. For starters MIUI is a totally different Android experience that lies somewhere closer to iOS.
Here’s the thing though: THEY FIXED THE AUDIO IN THE VIDEO RECORDING APP!
YAY! Go MIUI. I cant wait till ICS comes out for the thunderbolt, but until then… here’s to MIUI!
The news that Verizon is moving to a tiered data plan data plans that better suites individuals data needs is quiet unfortunate. I am thinking VERY hard about staying with Verizon (or keeping a smartphone) if the reported $20/2GB or $50/5GB is actually correct. It is yet to be seen how this will effect family share plans, but this is a big issue going forward with mobile data.
If these rumors are true, I have the next big Android/iOS app (that might actually pay for my data plan)! Here it is:
An app that runs in the background and monitors when data is sent and received. Only check email every 20 minutes, only upload photos on wifi, only stream music if you have > 2GB left on your monthly plan. Think of it as Locale or Tasker (Android apps that manage various phone states) but just for data management.
Boom!
Thoughts?
I am riding the 1 train right now and something special has just happened. For the first time in a while, due to the rain AND cold I am wearing closed toe shoes! Converse actually. Today I updated ny version of ruby on rails and am going to adapt babeleze.com to rails and amazons’ S3 service. Yay! Fun! henrysztul.info
