Yup… Team Shelby is going to be on TV. It’s crazy that they even wanted us in the show, but we’re still surprised they let us into TechStars in the first place anyway. ;)

To answer some of your burning questions up front:

No - this is not your standard “reality TV.” We did our thing and the cameras were just there to catch it.

Yes - my mother will probably be embarrassed by my language.

No - I am not wearing eyeliner.

No - Joe is not that tall in real life.

Yes - you will probably get to see Dan doing his Arnold impersonation.

Yes - Myles is really that intense.

No - Henry does not hook up with Snooki this season.

No - Sadly Intern Zero wasn’t around for the taping.

In all seriousness, I know that David and David always put TechStars’ first, and  Bloomberg did a good job of staying out of the way and just trying to catch the action.

So, if you want to see the birth of Shelby, or if you’re at all interested in TechStars, entrepreneurship or startups in general, you’ll probably get something out of the show.

DNA is just software, think about that.

I watched 60 minutes last night. (After a long day, after a very very early wake up with Leila)

They ran a story about the man (or one of the men) behind the discovery of the human genome and the first to create artificial life from synthetic DNA. The segmant ended with the man, a fellow doctor, stating something along the lines of, “DNA is just software.”

Wow. That is a very powerful statement. The idea that my children could be developers for the new hot programming language/framework, not ruby, rails, or node, but life (DNA, or whatever it will be called), is mind boggling.

This statement might bring up visions of the matrix, but just the statement alone is very very powerful. We will be able to program bits to carry out tasks like create fuel that is more environmentally friendly or create medicines in ways that are more efficient and faster than ever before.

All cool stuff. All stuff that can improve society, or not. Time will tell.
The point: DNA is just software. Wow.

Shelby.tv looks awesome. The consumer video service aggregates all of the video links on your social networks and turns them into one, customized channel. The technology is built to discover new sources, learn which videos you like and don’t like, and drive revenue for content creators. Videos can be tweeted and Liked from Shelby.tv too.

They are raising $500,000 and already have early commitments. Oh, and their mentor is Fred Wilson, nbd.

Study co-author *Jake Hofman* explained that the search data seemed to make the most difference in the case where the data available ahead of release was limited, such as video games. “There are some places where you really don’t have good outside information and search is reliable, like the non-sequel video games,” he explained to BBC News.

Unsubscribe.com - from the man who brought us phonetag (one of my all time favorite services) comes unsubscribe.com. This is as low tech as you can get. The service unsubscribes you from mailing lists, automatically if they can, manually if they have to. You get five unsubscribes per month for free and for $19 you can upgrade to unlimited unsubscribes (not per month, forever). I didn’t even bother with the free offer. I paid $19 the minute I saw this service and to date I have unsubscribed to roughly 125 mailing lists with the click of a button.

Another great service brought to us by Jamie!
