I keep getting things in the mail to switch to “super fast” Verizon DSL… ummm match that for the price I pay and sure, I’ll switch! [fat chance of matching that though!]

Bait and Switch? -OR Just- Realistic monetization?

Google Apps for a domain, a service that lets users that own a domain, like say Sztul.com, host email (gmail style), a calander, online documents, a start page and more is now a paid service.

If you go to http://google.com/apps you will see that now it costs $50/user per year after a 30 day free trial.  It used to be free (as in beer) for up to 50 users. hmmm…

I guess I am glad I have several domains setup with them already so I seemingly don’t have to pay for anything (as of now).

On the one hand I think it makes sense to have this service as a freemium service (ie a free version and a paid version) BUT I will end this post with saying GOOD FOR GOOGLE! In reality they SHOULD charge for this service.  It is a valuable set of tools (an online Word, Powerpoint, Outlook etc) and $50 / user / year is the going rate I guess.

What the April 1 update did was simple: It provided instructions for linking up with the thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of new nodes registered by Conficker.c over the last few weeks, effectively growing the size of the p2p botnet to a point where it can not be stopped.

Rails Template: Create a Twitter Application in Seconds - Intridea Company Blog

Rails templates in 2.3 seems to be VERY powerful… The idea that you can get a Rails template for a twitter app and almost instantly have a starting point for a twitter app/mashup is phenominal and will lead to a surge in creativity (i believe).

Thats right… 17.9 Mb/s download speeds… biatch.
But seriously… how awesome is that for a home connection!

The future of TV is online, duh!

TV is dead.  Long live TV!

Seriously, TV is dead.  Ok, maybe this is an overstatement, but I think Internet TV will be on the rise, and fast.  I believe Internet TV will be the next YouTube craze, Internet video on the TV, yay!

Right now there are a growing number of services like hulu.com and the big networks streaming video services are making this happen slowly but surely.  Application’s like Apple’s Front Row, Boxee, and XBMC are emerging as solutions to allow us to be entertained on our computers.

More important is that these so-called TV “solutions” allow us to now connect a computer to your TV, any computer, like that one sitting dormant in your basement (or storage container in your buildings’ basement, as in my case).

I think services like blip.tv and justin.tv are a new arena that something like this might be ready to distribute as well.

I especially think the time is right for an online variety show… like a recent event I attended in Tribeca last weekend called Pillow Talk, like an SNL broadcasted online.  This is a niche in online video that could take off…  especially based in NY.
