Yesterday I read a very interesting Physical Review Letter that shows theoretically and experimentally the production of Airy beams of light that seem to accelerate through space.

What does this mean?

I am not quiet sure yet.  But what the beam does is curve to the right (left) as it travels forward through space.  So the acceleration seems to be in the transverse plane, ie in the right (left) direction.

I am going to read a lot more about these and see if I can run with it.
