Fantasy Football.
So I will be honest.  My history in Fantasy Football (FF) is a bit lacking.  I think in the past 4-5 seasons I may only have had one or two seasons above 0.500 and a total of zero in the playoffs. My FF future is looking bright though!  I am sitting atop my division with a record of 8-4 and just scored a league record number of points for a week (tied with Ruddick ‘07 actually).  One more...

Vienna Bound.
And I’m off! (in a few hours) Leaving for Vienna today for a conference where I am presenting a poster on Airy beams.  No, they are not full of air!  They are laser beams that actually travel along a curved path!  Usually lasers follow a straight path. Not these guys… Anyway, Vienna should be interesting. Never been.  I hear they have good schnitzel!

The idea of “crowdsourcing” to improve society in some way or solve seemingly insurmountable problems is a topic that I have been discussing with a few people for a couple of years now.  This link gives two interesting examples of this!

"Children running through the streets..."
Last night was an experience of a generation.  Never before have I seen or felt the electricity that struck at a little after 11pm est last night.  At first we heard yelps from outside, individuals cheering.  Quickly yelps turned into children running through the streets.  Thats right, when could you ever have said that in my lifetime (almost 30 years)? There were children running through the...

Split the web! →
I had this idea back in 1995 with a guy named Baboo where in one web browser window (or tab in todays world) you could display several sites.  This idea is possible with YubNub and this link is an example of what I was thinking… perfect for students doing research online.  Another pane could even be a Google (or Zoho) docs word processor!

An App I like!
I have been having a hard time keeping on task and focussed lately.  I belive this is what comes naturally when one tries and works on several projects at once. Jake introduced me to an app that I tried today and it seems that I like it. Pester.app is a simple mac application that runs a timer for a designated amount of time or sounds an alarm at a certain time.  Simple yet effective.  I was...
